Amanda Cox is a skilled civil litigator who handles construction, tort, insurance and employment cases for private and public entities. She has tried, appealed, mediated and arbitrated disputes before the Massachusetts Superior and District Courts, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the U.S. First Circuit, private ADR services, and a range of state and federal agencies.
While Amanda’s clients operate across a diverse range of industry sectors, she has specific experience resolving disputes for retailers, franchisees and other hospitality companies. She also represents construction companies, general contractors, subcontractors, pipe layers, architects and other construction litigation. Her clients develop infrastructure such as pipes, sewers, electrical drainage lines, and build commercial and residential buildings. Her work spans issues such as bid protests, work defect allegations, error and omissions claims and contract review and negotiation. She is always prepared to go to trial, but recognizes the priority to achieve resolution through negotiation, arbitration, mediation or settlement. Amanda’s insurance coverage litigation practice primarily is focused on representing the insured in coverage opinions, policy analysis and their rights and obligations regarding third parties or their insurance company. She also represents insurers in situations where an independent evaluation of a claim is required. Amanda stands out for her appellate experience related to insurance cases, having drafted and argued appeals of complex issues such as policy interpretation or constitutional issues.
Amanda also represents employees and employers in a variety of workplace issues. On behalf of employees she handles claims of wrongful discharge, negotiation of severance agreements, and execution of employment contracts and non-compete agreements. She provides risk management counsel to employers, assuring they are up-to-date on rapidly changing Massachusetts and federal labor laws and standards.
Clients appreciate Amanda’s ability to connect on a personal level, and priority to bring active listening and empathetic thinking to developing and implementing a strategy aligned with her clients’ goals.
Amanda graduated from Boston University Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, and achieved a Masters Degree in Dispute Resolution concurrently with her J.D. at Pepperdine University.
